Message large cavity just before throttle body = pressure drop. could cause throttle response issues.
multiple reducers, as you stated = turbulance just befor throttle bodies. again, possible air volicty issues.
extra large piping = a fitting nightmare, hood may not close (been there, trust me.)

other then havng em chromed for visual stimulation, i don't think it serves any other real gains.

the ideal situation is keeping the piping the same so that there is little variance in pressure drops and velocities.
